Ever wondered how our episodes are made?

Ever wondered how our episodes are made? This is our process:

Step 1) Finding a topic:

Finding a topic is usually dependent on Luma and Ibrahim’s kids: Adam and Mila. They could be going through a phase, or need to learn a certain value. For example, they might not be cleaning up after they’ve played with their toys. So, the best way to encourage them to do that is by making it into a song and dance. And that’s where our Clean Up Time song came from (which you can watch here:Play

Alternatively, we get requests from our fans who have their own children with things that THEY are going through. For example, we had a fan whose father travelled a lot, and their mother was trying to explain to them the difference between night and day so that they could explain the time difference. And that’s where the song: Sun and Moon came from (which you can watch here:Play

Step 2) Write the lyrics

Luma or Lina get inspired and write down lyrics that come to them based on the topic we chose. Ibrahim listens, and then turns it into a song with a catchy melody (We’re often told that our songs are ear worms: you can thank Ibrahim for that.

Step 3) Language check

We then take our lyrics to our talented copywriter, Ayyoub, and he fixes the language, if it needs fixing. We want to get it right 100% of the time, and Ayyoub has the talent to help us pronounce things clearly and in the most beautiful way so that kids can learn it correctly. And Razan, Adam and Mila’s Grandmother, who also happens to be an expert in Education and the Arabic language, checks if everything is educationally sound. If we need an expert on a certain matter, we also always consult with one (a psychologist for example).

Step 4) Test it out

We then combine it all together, playing with the structure of the lyrics and the music. MOST IMPORTANTLY, we test it out with kids around us, be it Adam, Mila, or their cousins. We see if they like it, dance to it or sing it back with us. If they do, then we know that the song works.

Step 5) Arrangement

We then go to our producer, Chris, and he listens to our song, helps arrange it if things aren’t quite ready yet, and imagines what other instruments we could add to give the song layers and depth. If we need instruments that we can’t play, we get artists to record these instruments, because AWM believes in high quality production every time.

Step 6) Recording and mastering

This is the fun part; we record the music! We start with the guitar, to help guide us when we need to sing. Then we record the vocals, we do many takes to make sure that we have options, and we choose the best sounding ones. Then, the other instruments; if a song has a violin, or drums etc… Chris, with his PHD in music, works his magic to make things blend together and sound beautiful.

Step 7) Animation

We then come up with the visual concept of the episode and imagine what it will look like! Lutfi and Yara will then draw the characters and backgrounds and make the AWM world come to life. We then send it to our animators, who make the characters move and come to life!

And finally, of course, we post it on our YouTube channel

Where we can teach children to love and learn the Arabic language. Arabic learning made fun!

There you have it! That’s how we create our episodes. We hope you enjoyed learning about it and would love to hear from you about anything else you’d like to know about us!

We sing so we can learn <3
